Department of Archaeology has been estalished in 2005, though the education operations began in 2011 with the undergraduate degree course. The department with its four year course aims to raise generations who embraces, protects and presents cultural heritage and especially the cultural heritage of Anatolia for their nation and the further generations. Throughout the four year course as well as visual theorical lessons, practice oriented seminars, panels, conferences, field (investigation and research) trips, field operations the necessary of archaeology discipline, excavations, surveys and museum studies are brought in to the education. Graduates, with the education they receive can identify and interprete the socio-cultural structure, belief, economy and production endustry of societies belonging to the historical or pre-historical ages by their physical cultural remains. Furthermore, analytic investigation, observation and interpretation are other abilities gained through the course.
Graduates from the Department of Archaeology, can find career oppurtunities in all branches of the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Private Museums, Governorates, Provincial Administrations, Tourism and Municipalities as archaeologists. The graduates who continue further with their education in post-graduate programmes can find oppurtunities as researchers or academic members in universities or other institutions.
